Dawn of the Display Names

Ahh the age of Second Life where everyone who joins now is stuck with the last name "Resident". The horror of it all. I am totally kidding and trying to get all of those who are stuck with that lame last name feel better. I have come to the acceptance of all these new people with last name "Resident" and not see it as a bad thing anymore. Don't go by what I write though because there are quite a few who will judge you right off simply by your lame last name you stuck with. Believe me if most of us who have these unique last names joined like about 180 days ago (I not sure the exact amount of days) then we would have "Resident" as last names too. I still stay away from people who look all noobish though like wearing the shape, skin, and clothes you had when you joined plus if you not wearing an AO just screams noobish to me. Saying all this brings me to the title of this blog post in which I express deeply how not only the "Resident" people but also most of us should start using that wonderful new thing in Second Life that is the display names. I cannot begin to tell you how I feel more myself since those display names came into effect. To be free of only the name you picked when you signed up for this realm is fantastic to say the least. You can change your name completely or slightly. I see a ton of people simply using their first names even though they diss the ones with last name "Resident" who only show as a first name. I know that is such a contradiction but you have to laugh at it all. People like myself have chosen to use ASCII characters to distinguish themselves when they change their display names. You can have cute little fonts and symbols in your name now. I used to have a first, middle, and last name for my display name all prettified but now I have dropped the last name so it looks nicer and shorter too. You'll meet people who change the display name seemingly every week which is their prerogative since this is Second Life and you can do pretty much anything you want. So I urge if not plead to the new people with last name "Resident" to use that display name feature and use it wisely. It will amaze you how it will transform how you are perceived on here. Escape your mundane last name on here and join the land of cooler last names as well as symbols of your choosing.
